It was a beautiful day. These two days have been cooler than usual, and there are fewer blackouts so it's generally more pleasant. Today was also special because we spontaneously decided to visit Mataji. Mataji means "respected mother" in Hindi, and it's kind of like how we address the seniors in singapore as "uncle/auntie", but with even more respect. So anyway, Sarita (2nd from right) is our Hatha Yoga teacher and she brought us to visit Mataji (3rd from right):
They are so sweet. And honestly I feel so lucky to be in such a safe part of India. Im not being complacent or anything but it really is super safe here and we have gone out at night to the cafes; I've gone out shopping alone a couple of times. It's really chill. And the level of trust. We went up to Mataji's house and it's as though we've known each other for years. She welcomed us with warm smiles. We got so comfy that we could just chat, lay down, and even randomly do headstands:
Swamiji said "you can trust Mataji. In the whole of Rishikesh, she is most trustworthy". And Sarita said, once we visit, she will never forget us. And we are always welcome back :') Awwwww. It was a really lovely afternoon.
Notably... I taught my first Hatha class today! Vinyasa flows are still my biggest love but I think Hatha can be so soothing and restorative yet gradually build flexibility and strength as well: it's starting to grow on me.
Twas a lovely day.
Sunday tomorrow: White water rafting here we come!
